We provided structural engineering for a detached family home with first floor living space featuring vaulted ceilings and a cantilevered balcony offering views across the bay.

Sustainable Residential Engineering with Modern Methods of Construction
Constructed on a sloping site, this split-level contemporary house has been sustainably designed. Energy-efficiency is optimised through features such as PV solar roof panels and utilisation of Modern Methods of Construction.

The construction is an interesting combination of Nudura polystyrene concrete filled block and timber frame, with steel frame supporting the vaulted first floor. Made from recycled materials, the Nudura insulated concrete forms (ICF) are both sustainable and highly energy-efficient.

We have been engineering ICF-based commercial projects for some time now, so it is great to see this construction material crossing over to residential builds.

Meeting the Challenges of Sloping Sites in the Torbay Area
The building was constructed on a sloping site – something we often find with projects in and around the Torbay area. So we are highly experienced in addressing any engineering challenges associated this type of terrain.

Working Collaboratively with Local Construction Professionals
It is our privelege to engineer some amazing projects in the local area – and this one was no exception. We have delivered a number of projects alongside Churston Builders and Hendriksen Architects. The outcome has been high-quality design and construction with sustainability embedded throughout.
