Swift progress is being made on a new industrial steel frame building currently under construction on site in Ashford.
Located at the Orbital Business Park, the new unit will facilitate business growth for Opak Ltd, a local packaging distribution company that has outgrown its current premises.
We were appointed by local construction contractors Kent Structures to provide structural engineering input for the 14,000sq.ft warehouse storage unit with ancillary offices.
Project Overview
Construction is traditional steel portal frame with composite metal cladding. The unit has been designed to achieve very high efficiencies in building running costs. The building consists of a steel portal frame, supported on traditional pad foundations. Ground conditions were not particularly good, so the ground was completely lime stabilised to improve ground bearing capacity.
