We’re proud to have delivered commercial structural engineering services for The Yacht, a stunning new bar and restaurant located in Victoria Parade on the Torquay harbourside.
The Yacht is the latest venture of the East Street Pub Company, known for their stylish hospitality refurbishments in the local Torbay area. Formerly known as Cinnabar, it has been fully reimagined and structurally enhanced to suit modern commercial needs. As a result, the newly refurbished venue positively adds to the ongoing regeneration of Torquay’s harbour front.
The Yacht has been themed around a tale of an old sailor from Torbay who brought back food and drink from his travels around the world. It offers bar and restaurant hospitality across two floors and includes a distillery opened in partnership with Coastal Distilling Co.
Commercial Structural Engineering Expertise
Our commercial structural engineering team supported every stage, from design assessment to structural modifications and final inspection. The renovation involved extensive structural reworking of the old building. This included roof works and internal structural alterations to open up the space and improve flow for guests and staff, as well as infilling of old internal voids to create additional space. Also making safe rotting timberwork and the installation of a new larger front balcony, which anchors back into the existing floor structure. The result is a safe, flexible and inviting space, which welcomes locals and visitors to enjoy this inviting new harbourfront venue year-round.
It has been a great commercial project to be involved with, working alongside reputable local design and construction partners including PMR Architecture and Lantic Building Surveyors. We had a great time at the official opening last week, raising a glass with everyone involved in bringing this exciting new local venue to life.
