It is always a pleasure to work on projects that benefit local communities. So we are very happy to be providing structural engineering for the new Post Office Hub in Ashburton.

Expansion works to the existing building will facilitate the accommodation of Ashburton Post Office, Ashburton Library and community banking facilities all under one roof.

The Ashburton Hub will be the first Post Office, Library and Banking Hub in the entire UK. The Hub hopes to inspire other Rural Communities by showcasing what can be achieved by working collaboratively.

The Post Office and Library are already in operation within the building. The new extension will create space for additional facilities that aim to give Dartmoor residents access to high street banking support. Ashburton Library – which was saved from closure by being housed in the Post Office – will be moved upstairs into new purpose-built premises. A new lift will be installed to make the Library fully accessible.

This valuable community enterprise is being developed and funded by Ashburton Postmaster Stuart Rogers and his wife Jackie. Since taking over the Post Office ten years ago, the couple have instigated multiple great initiatives that provide financial and practical support throughout the Dartmoor National Park area. In recognition of his contribution to the Post Office and Community, Stuart was awarded the British Empire Medal in 2018.

We wish the couple every success with the expansion of this great community resource. Work is due for completion later this summer and the library is due to re-open in September.
